Wiebe van der Veen began working as a teacher and project manager for Aeres University of Applied Sciences in Dronten on 1 January 2020. He was born and raised on a dairy farm in North East Friesland, which is now run by his brother. Before Wiebe came to Aeres, he worked as a project manager in the steel industry, as an adviser and manager for Rabobank, as an agricultural specialist for Interpolis, and as a business adviser for LTO (formerly known as CBTS).

As a teacher, Wiebe provides business administration classes, such as business economics, economics, risk management, accounting, marketing, financial management and strategic management. He is also a personal tutor and helps students prepare for their graduation. The projects that Wiebe manages are on the nitrogen study programmes and on company takeovers.
