About Willem Asman

Willem A. H. Asman began working as a researcher for Aeres University of Applied Sciences in Dronten on 1 November 2022. He studied analytical chemistry and meteorology at Utrecht University and obtained his doctorate at Wageningen UR on the subject of 'Atmospheric behaviour of ammonia and ammonium'. He is also a qualified chemistry and physics teacher.

Previously he worked for a number of organisations, including Utrecht University, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, the National Environmental Research Institute in Denmark, Aarhus University in Denmark, Max-Planck Institute for Chemistry in Germany, and the IIASA in Austria.

He has expertise in:

  • Modelling and measuring of ammonia, methane, nitrous oxide and pesticides in the agricultural sector
  • Modelling of atmospheric transport
  • Transformation and deposition of air pollution, especially ammonia.

At Aeres, Willem’s research focuses on ammonia and methane emissions. His contribution to the study programmes is the nitrogen course.
