Dr. Laura Star studied Animal Science at Wageningen UR. She stayed on to carry out her doctoral research with the title ‘Robustness of Laying Hens; which physiological and immunological factors cause a laying hen to be robust?’ In 2018, after obtaining her doctorate, Laura became a poultry feed researcher at Schothorst Feed Research. Besides her job at Schothorst Feed Research, Laura has been working for Aeres University of Applied Sciences in Dronten since 2017 as the professor of Sustainable Poultry Farming in Circular Business Management. Her research themes are: food, health, welfare and poultry behaviour, and also insect breeding and the application of insects to poultry feed.
